Food for Hair Growth
1. Salmon: This fish is loaded with the strong hair supporters like Vitamin D and protein, but it also contains omega-3 fatty acids that promote hair growth by keeping your scalp healthy.
2. Eggs: Eggs are an excellent source of those aforementioned omega-3s, and they are also contain biotin (which many people trying to grow their hair take in supplement form). But, just so you’re aware, it’s not the egg white that will make your hair long and beautiful, it’s the yolk. Eating too many egg whites can actually block the absorption of biotin into the body, causing a depletion of this micronutrient.
3. Sweet Potatoes: These are loaded with beta carotene, the precursor for vitamin A that not only promotes a healthy scalp but promotes hair growth. But choose foods loaded with beta carotene over supplementing with high doses — like over 2500 milligrams — of vitamin A from retinol since it can be toxic at very high levels.
4. Avocados: Due to their high concentration of essential fatty acids naturally found in skin cells (which help to keep your skin smooth and supple), avocados are an age-old beauty secret. When topically applied to the hair and scalp, they have the added ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production. Mix a little avocado with sour cream (which contains lactic acid to help exfoliate dead skin and clean up buildup on the scalp) and apply to your hair and scalp for about ten minutes before washing it off.

10 Uses for Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is a versatile and natural product that is great for many aspects of health, diet, and beauty. Here are 10 ways to incorporate a little more coconut oil into your life.

1. Use a thin layer all over body or face as a moisturizing and sweet-smelling lotion. For the most intensively hydrating results, slather on dry skin or chapped lips before bed.

2. Acts as a natural sun-protectant, equivalent to SPF 4 sunscreen.

3. When used topically, helps heal cuts and scrapes.

4. For a great deep conditioning treatment, heat up a few tablespoons of coconut oil and honey into a bowl and disperse onto hair. Wrap up hair to retain the heat and wait for ½-1 hour. Rinse out with shampoo and voila --super silky hair.

5. Pregnant women can get rid of stretch marks by rubbing a little coconut oil onto their belly everyday.

6. To alleviate seasonal allergies, rub some coconut oil onto the inside of your nose.

7. Use with apple cider vinegar as a natural, chemical-free way to get rid of lice. First, rinse hair with apple cider vinegar and let it dry. This step dissolves the “glue” that sticks the eggs to your hair. Next, heat up some coconut oil and pour all over hair. Put a shower cap on and leave on for the whole day. The coconut oil will smother the lice and kill them. At the end of the day, comb out your hair to get rid of as many lice and eggs as possible, then shampoo normally.

8. Can be used as both a shaving cream and after-shave lotion.

9. Helps sooth chicken pox itches.

10. Rub a small amount onto the ends of hair to de-frizz.
